LAHORE – Federal Minister for Law and Parliamentary Affairs Dr Babar Awan has said that PPP will play the role of an opposition in Punjab and would foil all conspiracy to undo democracy with the help of masses who will also not allow a ‘wrong-march’ in the country.
He was addressing reporters at the Lahore Press Club on Sunday. He charged the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz for creating chaos in the country to prevent PPP from winning the senate election in the coming year. He said PPP has the majority in the senate with 30 members while PML-N has only seven. “PML-N leaders do not want to see PPP majority in the upper house,” he said.
He said per the desire of the masses, there should be a rule of law and the elected governemtn should complete its tenure. Dr Babar Awan said that there was no place for ‘short-term’ or ‘mid-term’ election in the constitution and those who wanted them should contest local bodies elections first.
PML-N only parted ways with PPP because of the upcoming senate elections, he alleged, criticizing the act of Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz (PML-N) to recognize Unification Group of the opposition party, Pakistan Muslim League Quaid (PML-Q), and said that Sharif brother have once again started the politics of turncoats in Punjab as they had already done in past.
