LAHORE – A 27-year-old woman was strangled to death by her husband who suspected her of having illicit relations with other men in the Allama Iqbal Town Police Station precincts on Sunday.
The deceased was identified as Saba, a resident of Neelam Block, Allama Iqbal Town. According to details, Saba married Wasim some years ago but her husband always accused her of having illicit relations with other men and repeatedly quarreled with her.
On Sunday, Wasim again quarreled with Saba accusing her of having a bad character while Saba retaliated and exchanged hot words with her husband. Wasim got furious and along with his brothers Mujahid and Zikriya tortured Saba and later strangled her to death with a scarf and hanged her body with a ceiling fan.
Afterwards, Wasim started raising hue and cry saying that his wife had committed suicide and called police, which removed the body to the mortuary for autopsy. Afterwards, police lodged a case against Wasim and his brothers on request of Saba’s brother.
After initial investigation, police found out that Wasim was involved in Saba’s death and arrested him along with his brothers. Separately, a man poisoned her wife to death for not allowing him a second marriage in the Manga Mandi Police Station precincts.
The deceased was identified as Iram, 35, a resident of the Medina Colony, Manga Mandi. According to police, Iram’s husband, Imran, father of four children, wanted to marry his colleague Rabia and demanded his wife to allow him a second marriage and also accommodate Rabia in their house after the wedding. Due to Imran’s demand, both wife and husband used to repeatedly quarrel with each other.
On Sunday, Imran brought Rabia to his house to introduce her to his family on which Iram started shouting and asked Rabia to leave. After seeing his wife’s reaction, Imran starting beating his wife and Rabia joined him in doing so. Due to their beating, Iram went unconscious on which Imran gave her poisonous pills resulting in her death.
Both Imran and Rabia tried to make the incident a suicide but Iram’s brother Shahbaz filed an application against Imran and Rabia on which police arrested both of them and started investigation.
