Lahoris make the most out of massive hailstorm

LAHORE – Lahoris continued to enjoy the pleasant weather resulting from the massive hailstorm which hit the city on Saturday and shared pictures and videos of the snowcapped city on various social networking websites. Citizens claimed it was snowfall not a hailstormt that hit the city at the weekend.
Talal Raza, a local student studying in the US, was mesmerised by the pictures posted on social networking site Facebook and wrote, “Did it snow in Lahore?” Raza said that he went thousands of miles to witness scenes like this and Lahoris were lucky enough to witness such weather in their hometown. People said that they would not forget it for a long time. Some people uploaded videos on Facebook, in which they showed the white blanket, which had covered the city.
A video gained popularity on the website in which a man shows the Canal Bank Road covered with a white blanket and tries to establish that this is Lahore. People are now expecting more hailstorms in Lahore. Seeing pictures of the Main Market, Gulberg covered with a white blanket, people said that it looks like Europe. According to reports, people even played with ice balls.
They said that God had fulfilled their dreams and people living in Karachi and Islamabad also wished to see such weather. The Met Office predicted another spell of winter rains from Monday, which would last for another three to four days. According to the Met Office, rains from Iran are likely to enter Balochistan on Monday, which would cause widespread rains in Balochistan from Monday to Wednesday.
Scattered rains with snowfall over hills are also expected in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Punjab, Gilgit-Baltistan and Azad Kashmir from Monday to Thursday. The Met Office said that Rabi crops in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Punjab and Balochistan might receive good rains during the coming week.
