KARACHI – Around 2,500 health conscious people, including professors, doctors, sportsmen and the disabled, participated on Sunday in the annual marathon that was organised by the Pakistan Medical Association (PMA). The slogan of this year’s marathon was ‘Cancer Kills, Early Diagnosis Saves Life’ and it commenced from the PMA House that is located at the Garden Road.
According to a press release issued by the PMA, Sindh Health Secretary Dr Hashim Raza attended the event as the chief guest. Muhammad Zada of the Westminster School, Esha Pariya of the Nasra School and Sylvester Dean of the St Patrick’s School won the first, second and third position respectively in the males category of the marathon.
Randall Dean, Dean Jonathon and Adeed Rind of the St Patrick’s School won the first, second and third position respectively in the boys category. Muhammad Rashid, Ali Ahsan, Junaid Qureshi from California (USA) and Hassan Masood of the Sir Syed University of Engineering and Technology won the marathon in the elders category.
Rahul Sarani, Satish Kumar and Ajeet Kumar of the Sindh Medical College and Adil Sheikh of the Dow Medical College won the marathon in doctors/medical students category, whereas Allah Bakhsh, Yasir Khan and Ajmal Shah won in the special category.
Live music played during the entire event, whereas t-shirts, refreshments and different prizes were also distributed among the participants.
