FIA arrests human trafficker

GUJRANWALA – Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) has arrested Al-Madina Group of Travel and Tours Proprietor Arif Mahmood who was involved in human trafficking and swindling money from a large number of innocent citizens. FIA Deputy Director Shahid Hussain said Arif Mahmood had been absconding for many years and was living in Gulf States. He added the accused had confessed that he swindled millions of rupees from a large number of people.
CONSTABLE KILLED, ANOTHER INJURED: Two motorcyclists shot dead a police constable and injured another when they were stopped for checking near Btala Jhanda Singh. Reportedly, two constables from Qila Dedar Singh Police Station were patrolling in a suburban area.
They found two suspicious motorcyclists and stopped them for checking, upon which, one of the pillion rider suddenly opened fire at the cops killing a 23-year-old constable Waheed Akhter instantly and injuring Tahir Riaz.
City Police Officer (CPO) Ghulam Mahmood Dogar and other police officers rushed the spot and the whole area was seized to search the assailants.
FIRE ERUPTs AT GEPCO WORKSHOP: A fire erupted at Gujranwala Electric Power Company’s (GEPCO) workshop situated inside Shaheenabad grid station, causing power interruption in major parts of the city.
Reportedly, the fire erupted at the workshop during the maintenance of transformers and it caused severe damage to the equipment. GEPCO Chief Executive Muhammad Ibrahim Majoka said that all feeders had been closed to avoid any major destruction and added that Rescue 1122’s fire fighters had controlled the fire after two hours effort.
