CM ties another Pakistan-Turkey knot

LAHORE – Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif laid the foundation stone of a boys’ hostel in the main campus of the Pak-Turk International School and College at Khayaban-e-Jinnah Road on Sunday.
Chief Minister Shahbaz said that Pakistan and Turkey had centuries-old historic and cultural relations and people of both the countries were bound together through strong fraternal ties. He said that Turkey was a sincere friend and always helped Pakistan in its hour of need.
He also said that schools and colleges of Pak-Turk Foundation are playing a commendable role for the promotion of quality education and the provincial government will fully cooperate with them for this purpose.
Fatih University Istanbul Rector Dr Serf Ali Tekalan, Pak-Turk Educational Foundation Chairman Unal Tosur, Regional Director Turgat Puyan, members of the high-ranking Turkish delegation and people from all walks of life were present.
Chief Minister Shahbaz said that Turkish investment in Pakistan was very encouraging; however, there was a need for further promoting economic and trade ties between the two countries. He said the Punjab government was working on the project of setting up a university in the provincial metropolis with Fatih University Istanbul collaboration and an agreement was signed in this regard during his visit to Turkey.
He said that Turk experts had arrived in Pakistan for implementation of the agreements signed for cooperation in different sectors during his Turkish visit. He said that Pak-Turk Foundation School in Lahore was comparable to any prestigious institution of the country and he had personally observed this fact during his visit to the school where he was delighted to see excellent classrooms, library and quality educational facilities.
The CM visited different sections of the school where he was briefed about curricular and co-curricular activities. Later, he also inaugurated the photographic exhibition on Turkey by prominent photographer Aamir Khan.
