Rs 1.15b allocated for big city projects in Faisalabad, Jhang

FAISALABAD – Rs 1.15 billion have been allocated for development schemes under big city development programme for Faisalabad and Jhang on the direction of Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif,” disclosed Divisional Commissioner Syed Tahir Hussain.
Chairing a meeting of senior officials of the Faisalabad division, he directed the heads of nation-building departments to initiate the construction work on the big city development projects without any further delay. The meeting was held to review the pace of progress of all the development schemes in the division.
Toba Tek Singh DCO Amanuallah Khan, Chiniot DCO Dr Irshad Ahmad, Director Development Sher Bahadar and others were present on the occassion. Giving an overall position of the allocated funds, Tahir Hussain told the participants that the funds of Rs 700 million were received for 83 schemes of the provincial buillding department.
He elaborated that Rs 250 million had been utilized and added another sum of Rs. 230 million had been received for 30 schemes of provincial highways for Faisalabad circle. It was also disclosed that Rs 130 million were provided for 36 schemes of public health and urban development projects. The meeting also reviewed the development schemes of WASA, FDA and other sectors.
Cable thief electrocuted: An unidentified man, during an attempt to steal high-powered electricity transmission cable, was electrocuted as he tried to cut the live cable at night. The body of the thief was found by the residents of Millat Town in the morning. The police have kept his body at the Allied Hospital mortuary and are tracing his heirs.
ONE-WHEELING CLAIMS LIFE: A youngster slipped down during one-wheeling and died on the spot. Hafiz Mohsin, 20, a resident of Chak No 220 RB, was busy in one-wheeling at Jarranwala Road near the Kehkshan Colony area when he lost control over his bike and fell down.
He sustained severe head injuries and was taken to the DHQ hospital by Rescue 1122, but could not survive.
YOUTH ATTEMPTS SUICIDE: A youth attempted tom commit suicide by hanging himself to the ceiling of to his house over a row with his parents. According to details, Tariq Mahmood son of Faiz Ahmed, a resident of D-Type Colony, Samundari Road, had a row with his parents over his demand for money.
He locked himself in his room, hanged himself to the ceiling of the house with the help of a rope. The distressed family called Rescue 1122 for help. The Rescue workers broke the door, cut the rope and saved the life of the boy. He was rushed to the DHQ hospital where the doctors succeeded in saving his life.
