PPP was ousted on workers’ call, says Nawaz

LAHORE – The exclusion of the Pakistan People’s Party from the Punjab government was the “call of workers,” Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) chief Nawaz Sharif said on Saturday. Addressing PML-N workers from Hazara, Bannu, Dera Ismail Khan, and Peshawar divisions at his Model Town residence, Nawaz said that the PML-N would have supported the PPP-led government had it resolved the problems of the people.
Nawaz said a revolutionary team to enforce a revolutionary agenda was in the making, adding that it would electrify the masses to build a new Pakistan which will be strong, stable and prosperous. The PML-N chief said the long march had proven that the Pakistani people were the bearers of the constitution and justice.
He said the revolutionary sprit of the long march would again mobilise the people to build a better Pakistan. He said the country’s economy was dwindling due to the government’s incompetence and due to heavy borrowing by it, adding that each Pakistani child is under debt of Rs 57,000. Nawaz said the country’s debt had shot up from Rs 3 billion to Rs 10 billion during 10 years. “Load shedding, unemployment and corruption are not letting the people live a normal life,” he said.
The government could not create jobs and youth had driven pillar to post with their degrees in their hands. Nawaz said the PML-N would bring a revolution in the education sector, youth will be imparted knowledge of science and technology, maximum facility will be given to boost research in every sector and women will be empowered.
He said those who had allied with former president Pervez Musharraf, conspired and inflicted damages to the party had no place in the PML-N. However, he said doors were open for those who had never been involved in conspiracy and hurting the PML-N. Separately, Indian High Commissioner Sharat Sabharwal called on the PML-N chief at his residence in Raiwind.
Nawaz said India and Pakistan should engage in meaningful dialogue for the peace and progress in the region. The Indian high commissioner praised Nawaz’ efforts during his previous tenures as the prime minister of Pakistan for bring peace in the region.
