LAHORE – Supreme Court Bar Association (SCBA) President Asma Jahangir on Saturday said that the differences between the PPP and the PML-N were a part of democracy and, apparently, there was no threat to democracy at the moment in the country.
However, time and people would decide whether their differences were good for the country, she added. She was talking to media at the Lahore High Court Bar Association (LHCBA) where she had come to cast her vote for annual election of the bar. Asma supported Rai Bashir Ahmed of the Friends Alliance, backed by Federal Law Minister Babar Awan.
Talking about the situation prevailing in the country, she said, “If Pakistan takes part in the ‘great game’, the spy agencies of not only the US but also of other countries will work in the country,” she added.
She pointed out that besides the Chinese, the Russians were also working in Gilgit-Baltistan while the activities of Americans were known to everyone.
Replying to a query, she said neither she nor her sister gave any importance to becoming a judge and none of her associates would accept elevation to the bench.
