ISLAMABAD – Prime Minister Syed Yousaf Raza Gilani Saturday approved establishment of ‘Faiz Chair’ at the Allama Iqbal Open University (AIOU) Islamabad. It may be recalled that the AIOU was founded by Shaheed Zulfikar Ali Bhutto on the advice of Faiz Ahmed Faiz. The prime minister also sanctioned establishing Faiz Library in Islamabad as an extension of the National Library.
He further accorded approval for the National Language Authority to work on a comprehensive biography of Fiaz under the supervision of Iftikhar Arif and in collaboration with the daughter of Faiz, Saleema Hashmi of the Faiz Foundation, and Agha Nasir.
