ARDN conference concludes

LAHORE – The three days international conference, arranged by the Asian Research and Development Network (ARDN), has adjourned. 50 delegates from 15 countries participated in this conference, in addition to a large number of agricultural scientists, exporters, trader and farmers from Pakistan. Former National Assembly speaker Fakhar Imam and National Assembly member Chaudhry Iftikhar Nazir and University of Toronto Associate Professor Abu Haidar chaired the technical sessions.
According to a spokesman of the Agriculture Department, share of cotton in agricultural value addition is 8.6 percent where as it provides 40 percent employment, along with export earnings of 60 percent.
Pakistan ranks fourth in world cotton production, having a share of 9.5 percent, third largest exporter of raw cotton, third largest consumer of cotton, second largest exporter of yarn and third exporter of cloth.
