LAHORE – Banned pacer Mohammad Aamir has filed an appeal against his ban with the international court of arbitration of the International Olympics Committee.
Aamir on Friday confirmed that he has filed an appeal with the court of arbitration after consultation with his lawyers and said he wanted to fight until his name is cleared. Salman Butt did not confirm filing an appeal but made it clear he would go any length to get out of the mess. “I will be fighting the case and we still have a day to file the appeal. I am waiting for my layers to give me the green signal. I am not sure as yet; maybe they have filed the appeal or will file it on Saturday. I cannot say anything as yet until confirmation from my lawyers,” he said.
Mohammad Asif, who flew to London from Doha after the bans were announced, said he would be fighting his case and would play once again for Pakistan. Meanwhile, the PCB is keen to ensure that the banned trio is allowed to financially sustain themselves during the period of their punishment. PCB officials heaved a sigh of relief over the fact that Butt had been allowed to take up a job as a cricket pundit with a private television channel by the International Cricket Council’s anti-corruption tribunal.
