LAHORE – The PML-N supported the PPP-led government with sincerity and good intention but in reward, President Asif Ali Zardari inflicted several injuries to the party during the last three years, PML-N chief Nawaz Sharif said on Thursday.
Addressing PML-N workers from Dera Ghazi Khan and Bahawalpur divisions at his Model Town residence, Nawaz said, “We supported the PPP-led government with sincerity and good intention but in reward, President Asif Ali Zardari incurred several injuries to the PML-N during the three years.” He said the government’s incompetence had plunged the country into a whirlpool of problems, adding that it was high time “we take a firm and final stand to help the country out of crises”.
Calling for an amendment in the constitution barring the country from alms-seeking, Nawaz said begging was causing “us to fall from grace”. The PML-N chief said those who had quit the party under coercion were welcome to rejoin the party if they regretted their decision, however, adding that the doors of the party were forever closed on those who had changed the loyalty in the lust of power.
Nawaz said it was time traitors of democracy were held accountable and severe punishment meted out to those who helped dictators upstaged the PML-N government in 1999. He said the PML-N had the most capable team to fix all troubles in a tactful way. “It’s our mission to make Pakistan stand on its own feet and to gain self-reliance a.nd prosperity,” Nawaz added.
