Ushna reaches doubles semis in Kenya

LAHORE – Ushna Suhail, the national ladies and U18 tennis champion, has reached the doubles semifinal in the Grade 4 ITF U18 tennis tournament being held in Kenya. Second seed Ushna is partnering with Nikita Dawda of Kenya. Though Ushna lost in the singles’ pre-quarters, she won her doubles quarterfinal. The Pak- Kenyan pair defeated the Europeon pair of Anke Poncelet of Belgium and Anastasia Reimchen of Germany 6-4, 6-4.
The match was closely contested, with both sides on serve until four games each. The Pak-Kenyan pair played point to point in the first set, with long rallies and net game. Ushna and Nikita then played an aggressive game and broke their opponents’ serve, winning the set 6-4. In the second set, the Pak- Kenyan pair again played a well coordinated and aggressive baseline and net game to take a 5-3 lead.
