KARACHI – Sindh Commerce and Industries Minister Rauf Siddiqui on Thursday instructed the Sindh Industrial and Trading Estate (SITE) Ltd to recover outstanding dues of at least Rs 10 million from various private and government departments by March 30.
The directions came in the meeting of SITE officials with the provincial minister, who also ordered the computerisation of all SITE departments so the functioning of the industrial body could be further improved.
Commerce and Industries Secretary Zameer Ahmad Khan and SITE Managing Director Abdul Rasheed Solangi among other officials were present on the occasion.
The commerce and industries minister said the missing of official files from the administration department was a major crime and such negligence would not be allowed. Siddiqui held the water mafia responsible for the damages caused to industrial infrastructure in SITE as they dig up newly-constructed roads without any fear.
“The officers and engineers concerned should come out from their air-conditioned rooms for the protection of industrial infrastructure and inspection of development works as no negligence would be tolerated at any cost,” he added. Siddiqui announced that the development work on Habib Bank flyover would kick off soon.
The cleanliness drive in SITE needs the cooperation of industrialists, he said, adding that if garbage is found outside of any factory after the campaign, the owner would be held responsible and authority concerned would fine him.
