LAHORE – A meeting of the Punjab University Advanced Studies and Research Board (AS&RB) was held under the chairmanship of Vice Chancellor (VC) Dr Mujahid Kamran in his office on Friday. The meeting
reviewed PhD scholars’ cases presented to the board by PU departments, institutes, colleges and schools.
In the meeting, 9 PhD synopses, 12 reports on PhD theses and 15 panels of examiners for PhD theses review were approved, 6 cases were given extension while 6 miscellaneous cases were discussed as well. Dr Javaid Ahmed, Dr Shahida Hasnain, Dr Hafiz Mahmood Akhtar, Dr Hafiz Muhammad Iqbal, Dr Qalb-i-Abid, Dr Abdul Ghaffar, Dr Muhammad Ehsan Malik, Dr Muhammad Hafeez, Dr Liaqat Ali, Dr Mahr Muhammad Saeed Akhtar, Dr Naseer Ahmad, Dr Muhammad Akhtar and Dr Zahid Karim Khan attended the meeting. Over 300 research papers were received by the Higher Education Commission (HEC) in five categories out of which Punjab University Institute of Quality & Technology Management (IQTM) faculty member Dr Muhammad Usman Awan’s research paper “Development of a Service Quality Scale for Pharmaceutical Supply Chains” has been awarded “HEC Best Research Paper” award in the category of Management Sciences. The VC congratulated Dr Awan by saying that this achievement earned fame to the varsity.
He hoped that this award would help encourage other faculty members to contribute quality research to enhance their teaching skills. Dr Usman’s paper was co-authored by Prof Dr Abdul Rauf, Prof Dr Niaz Ahmad and Prof Dr Leigh Sparks (University of Stirling).
