KARACHI -Rice exporters from Pakistan have been invited to participate in a big way in the first ever international rice exhibition, “Rice International Conference and Exhibition (RICE) Dubai 2011”, which will be held from May 9 to 11 at Madinatul Jumeirah, United Arab Emirates.
FAM Holding (a conglomerate in the UAE) Chairman Dr Faisal Ali Mousa, while addressing a press conference along with his representative from Pakistan, Asad Sajjad, said that the event would provide an excellent opportunity to rice exporters to explore new markets and buyers to increase rice exports from Pakistan.
He said that the RICE – Dubai 2011 was the first and unique international event in the region, which would attract different stakeholders of international rice markets under one roof. It would be a global stage where industry players could demonstrate their products and capabilities.
Mousa, who is also the Chairman of Ideal Idea Events Management, said that it was one of the biggest opportunities to introduce new brands and products in the international markets, which would ultimately boost sales of the commodity. He underlined that the exhibition was a showcase for manufacturers, distributors and suppliers around the world, representing all key sectors within the rice trade to expand their client base and venture into emerging markets.
He said RICE – Dubai 2011, which was being organised by Ideal Idea Events Management, would serve as an ideal platform for attracting 10,000 trade visitors and bulk buyers. He underlined that more than 60 countries were participating in the expo and it would help in identifying new market opportunities and finding new channels for marketing.
“We are getting trade enquiries from buying countries, including Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Philippines, Nigeria, Iran, Iraq, Senegal, Malaysia, Yemen, Syria, Kuwait, Oman, Jordan, Russia, Cambodia, Sudan, Libya and Bahrain”, he pointed out and said that these enquiries would help exhibitors in promoting their business.
He said that a recent study conducted by the Ministry of Foreign Trade, United Arab Emirates revealed that the UAE had been the top global re-exporter of rice over the past five years (2005- 2009). The study revealed that the UAE’s share of global rice re-exports stood at 93 percent, underlining the country’s strategic importance in the global rice trade – due to it being situated in a pivotal point between international production, export and consumption areas in South East Asia and the rest of the world.
