LAHORE – Defending champions Colony Sugar maintained their dominance in the Bank Alfalah National Polo Championship by winning the second match here at the Lahore Polo Club on Thursday. Colony Sugar, playing the last match of the day, overwhelmed PAF (Hataff) by eight goals to three.
Shah Qubilai Alam, Raul LaPlacette and Zain Khan Khakwani joined hands to completet a rout of Hataff. Qublai scored five goals, LaPlacette bagged two and Zain got one.Earlier, Master Paints made short work of Al Khan/Ciro’s Pomodoro 10-6.
Master’s Gaston Moore made the win easy, with support from Sufi Mohammad Aamir and Hissam Ali Hyder, who scored one goal each. Fernando Quinto Bourdieu and Shah Shamyl Alam tried their utmost to bring Pomodoro in terms with Master, but their efforts did not materialise. In another match, Guard Group/Diamond Paints managed to defeat Medicam 8-7 after tough resistance from Medicam’s star rider Malcom Bowrick, who produced five goals out of the seven scored by the losing side.
Atif Yar Tiwana and Ahmed Ali Tiwana got one goal each. Gerardo Mazzini and Taimur Ali Malik, with three goals each, and Raja Samiullah, with two goals, led Guard Group/Diamond Paints to victory. Warid beat Army/Askari Bank 9-8, thanks to Manuel Crespo, who produced all the nine goals to rattle the Julio Nevillo Astrada-led opposition. Julio Nevillo Astrada scored six goals while Ahmed Zubair got one.
