THQ Hospital’s women doctors go on strike

LAHORE – Women doctors of the THQ Hospital Mozang went on a strike on Thursday over manhandling of a colleague by father of a patient and “rude” behaviour of the hospital medical superintendent (MS) after the incident. According to details, Dr Humaira was performing her duties two days ago when a pregnant woman reached the hospital with her father. Doctors alleged that the patient’s father manhandled Humaira despite the fact that the delivery had taken place without any problem. They said that after the incident, MS Dr Niaz Sindhu instead of placating the doctor, reproached the female doctor. The doctors called-off the strike after the Mozang SHO reached the spot and assured of better security at the hospital. Dr Niaz Sindhu said that he only asked the on-duty doctor to perform her duty first and then talk about the issue. He denied allegations that he was rude with the doctor, saying “humanity comes first and these issues could be resolved later, as then the patient was in a critical condition”. The MS said that the incident has been settled and doctors are performing their duties now.
