GUJRANWALA – Regional Police Officer (RPO) Ahmad Raza Tahir has vowed to change traditional police culture, announcing a five-point agenda to maintain and improve the law and order situation in the region. While addressing a press conference at his office the other day, he ordered all the SHOs to dispose of all bogus cases to reduce unnecessary burden on the department within 15 days.
The media will be considered a team member to control crimes as well as to get actual report of the performance at the police station level. The RPO announced the five-point agenda and said it would be implemented in all six districts of the region. The agenda includes the improvement of police culture and promulgation of preventive laws against land mafias, drug sellers, and kidnappers.
It would also work for heavy surety bonds, arrest of the absconding culprits involved in heinous crimes in the last five years, offensive policy against criminals and the morale boosting steps for the force.
He said the IGP Punjab had eradicated political interference from the department and now all the station house officers (SHOs) would be given minimum one-year-term to show performance.
Deputy superintendents of police (DSPs) would also work under the RPO in the region while the RPO would transfer them as per his priorities to yield better results, he added. He further said the SHOs of the 111 police stations would have to control crime.
