KARACHI – Sindh Home Minister Dr Zulfiqar Mirza and PML-Q leader Pervaiz Elahi’s son Moonis Elahi met at the home minister’s house on Wednesday where the two decided that if the PML-N expelled PPP ministers from Punjab, the PPP and PML-Q would form a joint opposition, sources said.
Mirza’s private secretary and other department officers, along with police and Rangers personnel provided complete protocol to Moonis when he arrived at the Karachi airport from abroad. Moonis was taken to Mirza’s house from the airport, where the two decided that the PPP and PML-Q would form a joint strategy against the PML-N in Punjab and Sindh, insiders told Pakistan Today.
Both leaders agreed that relations between the PPP and PML-Q should continue as PML-N chief Nawaz Sharif had adopted a policy of “inflexible” politics and “become an arrogant egoist”. They also decided that the leaderships of both the parties should meet to discuss various issues.
Meanwhile, talking to reporters at the Karachi airport, Moonis said he had returned to the country as he wanted to give a strong response to baseless allegations levelled against him.
The Sindh High Court has recently granted a protective bail to Moonis in the National Insurance Company Limited scam case. Moonis told reporters that a conspiracy had been hatched against his family and the party. “I will go to Lahore today (Thursday) to uncover all elements behind this conspiracy,” he said. He said controversial officers, who had differences with his family during the PML-Q government, had been appointed to investigate the case and they were targeting his family.
