Every state institution including defence forces, executive, civil bureaucracy and judiciary are best strengthened by denying the myth of indispensability of individuals whosoever he or she may be or howsoever he or she may be experienced and competent. It is the first time that the Supreme Court of Pakistan has passed a resolution in favour of ad hoc appointments of two justices.
At present the judiciary is one of the freest and most independent institutions of the state. It is now expected to be a role model for other state institutions to work according to the constitution. What moral justification remains with the Supreme Court to order the political government to remove from service all those bureaucrats who has been reappointed on extension when it is indulging in this very practice itself?
It is the prime responsibility of the superior judges to uphold and protect the constitution. Therefore, I suggest that these appointments be revoked at once and no such step is taken further in this regard.
