Truck production slides 12.20pc

KARACHI – Cumulative trucks production has undergone a decline of 12.20 percent, while their sales have dwindled 16 percent in the first seven months of the financial year 2010-11.
Data released by the Pakistan Automotive Manufacturers Association (PAMA) has revealed that sales of Hino fell 19 percent, while sales of Nissan and Isuzu registered a decline of nine percent and 31 percent respectively in the said period. Sales of Master exhibited a rising trend, growing at 18 percent.
Production of Hino and Nissan slumped 21 percent and 16 percent respectively. However, Master and Isuzu posted positive production of 19 percent and 25 percent respectively. Similarly, cumulative sales of busses declined 13.12 percent, while their production fell 26.06 percent in the said period.
Sales of Hino squeezed 17 percent and saw a 25 percent decline in its production. Sales and production of Isuzu busses grew by 29 percent and three percent respectively. Total Jeeps’ (4×4) sales, in the said period, dwindled 23.43 percent, while total production slid eight percent. However, total Pick-Ups sales and production increased 12 percent and 21 percent respectively in the said period.
In addition, sales and production of Suzuki Ravi increased 19 percent and 22 percent respectively. Meanwhile, sales and production of Toyota Hilux raised 30 percent and 22 percent respectively. Hyundai Shehzor and Master Pick-ups have registered an 81 percent and 26 percent decline in sales respectively, while their production reduced by 71 percent and 41 percent respectively.
Farm tractors of Fiat and Massey Ferguson also registered a three percent decline in their cumulative sales and productions. Fiat also saw a 12 percent decline in its sales and productions in the said period, while Massey Ferguson posted a four percent sales growth, in addition to a production growth of three percent.
On the other hand, cumulative sales and production for the said period of Motorcycles and Three-wheelers stood at 11 percent. Only Yamaha, Sohrab, Sohrab Three-wheeler, and Habib exhibited a decline of seven percent, 64 percent, 46 percent, and five percent respectively in their sales.
Growth in sales of Honda, Suzuki, Qingqi, Qingqi three-wheeler, Hero, Ravi, and Sazgar three-wheeler stood at 16 percent, 22 percent, 66 percent, 48 percent, 17 percent, 18 percent and 60 percent respectively in the said period.
Production of motorcycles and three-wheelers of Honda, Yamaha, Suzuki, Sohrab, Sohrab three-wheeler, Qingqi, Qingqi three-wheeler, Hero, Ravi, Sazgar three-wheeler and Habib stood at 15 percent, -8 percent, 13 percent, -71 percent, -47 percent, 42 percent, 49 percent, 18 percent, 20 percent, 58 percent, and -2 percent respectively.
