ISLAMABAD – More than 7000 protesting teachers affiliated with Federal
Directorate of Education (FDE) on Tuesday called off their week long protest after government accepted their all demands in accordance with package announced by Prime Minister.
“All teachers will resume their duties on Wednesday (today) as secretary education and director FDE have assured us of the implementation of packages,” said Azhar Awan, “We are giving twenty days to government for implementation of package we will restart our protests,” he added. It may be recalled here that Prime Minister Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani on November 8, while addressing to teachers had announced teacher package, however despite passage of four months this package could not be implemented.
Later on, teachers started boycotting of classes followed by sit-ins against the non-implementation of package. Talking to Pakistan Today Shaheen Khan, chairperson FDE, said that all demands of teachers had been accepted and within two weeks their up-gradation and enhanced salaries issue will be resolved.
