Students force Hajveri University to lower fee

Lahore – Hajvery University D-Pharm students on Wednesday forced the university’s administration to take back their decision of increasing the fee. The university had increased the fee from Rs 47,500 to Rs 60,000 per semester. Responding to this fee hike, the students staged a protest at the university’s Euro Campus, Gulberg. Students were asked to submit fee according to the new fee schedule, but they refused. They boycotted classes and gathered in front of the admin office where they chanted slogans against the university’s administration.
They protested for one and a half hour and then announced not to attend classes till the fee increase decision was taken back. University’s management called selected students for a dialogue and after a half hour negotiation, management agreed for the old fee schedule; Rs 47,500 per semester. The students ended the protest and now the classes will continue as per schedule. Students have also warned that if the administration tried to increase the fee in future they will not obey the decision and will boycott the classes again. Students claimed that it was not possible for them to pay extra fee.
