Punjab govt must shun terrorists openly: ANP

LAHORE – The acting president of Awami national Party (ANP) Haji Adeel has said that Punjab’s rulers must not have a ‘soft corner’ for the militant groups and that they should rather work seriously to eradicate terrorism from the province.
Senator Haji Adeel was speaking at a peace conference arranged by
the ANP at Lahore Press Club on Tuesday. The moot was held in connection with the 23rd death anniversary of Bacha Khan. “Over 500 workers and office-bearers of the ANP had sacrificed their lives in fight against terrorism”, he added.
He said the Pakistanis wanted peace and peace was motto always upheld by Bacha Khan. “A weak democracy is always better than the strongest dictatorships”, he added. Speaking on the occasion, Supreme Court Bar Association (SCBA) President Asma Jahangir said that though the value of intellectuals cannot be denied in any society but it was the politicians that could pull a country out crises it was faced with.
She lauded the role of people of Pakhtunkhwa for their struggle
for peace. The human rights activist Amna Masood Janjua said only peace could guarantee progress of any country. ANP’s Secretary General Ahsan Wayne said that the party workers were working for the prosperity and glory of Pakistanis while acting upon the ideology of Bacha Khan.
