Labourer woman gunned down

LAHORE – A thirty-seven-year-old woman was gunned down by unidentified robbers in the precincts of the Sattukatla Police Station here on Wednesday. The deceased was identified as Gulshan, a resident of Mian Channu. She worked as a labor with a local contractor. Gulshan was returning home after buying groceries from the market when robbers held her at a gunpoint and tried to snatch money. She tried to resist the robbery, at which point robbers opened fire and fled. She was injured and taken to hospital where she died.
Constable injured in shooting: A police constable sustained bullet injures during an exchange of fire between the police and a criminal in South Cantonment late on Tuesday. Defence Police conducted a raid to arrest Malik Riaz, an imposter who allegedly defrauded people of their money by introducing himself as chairman of the Chief Minister’s Task Force. The police raided a house in Gulshan Colony, Bhaata Chowk. On seeing the police, Riaz opened fire, injuring Constable Abdul Ghafoor. Police returned fire but Riaz fled in the darkness of night. The injured constable was rushed to hospital where his condition was reported to be out of danger.
Police said they were conducting raids to arrest Riaz. Man dies: An elderly man died on Wednesday under mysterious circumstances in the Northern Cantonment Police precincts. Muhammad Rafeeq, 70, was at work in his office when fell unconscious. He was rushed to Services hospital where he died. Doctors said he died of cardiac arrest.
