LAHORE – Pakistan can only find its lost place among the comity of nations through education, Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif said on Tuesday. He was addressing the 74th Convocation of the Kinnaird College (KC) for Women at the Perin Boga Amphitheatre. KC Board of Governors Chairman former Lahore Bishop Reverend Dr Alexander John Malik presided over the ceremony.
The CM said that there was a need to promote the culture of research and accountability and the Danish Schools have been established to educate the poor. He said it was unfortunate that despite being a nuclear power, we are beggars and rely heavily on the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and the World Bank.
Shahbaz said that nationalisation of educational institutions played havoc with the country adding that it had killed our capacity. Dr Alexander John Malik expressed his delight at graduation of all students and hoped that they would continue to promote KC’s name in their respective fields. KC Principal Dr Rukhsana David congratulated the graduates and said that the college is very proud of them, as most of the students have joined the workforce or are studying abroad.
Afterwards, degrees and medals were awarded to the graduating students.
