Faisalabad City Government to introduce quality traffic culture

FAISALABAD – The city government has put in place an effective mechanism to resolve the longstanding traffic chaos in its endeavour to introduce a standardised, disciplined and a systematic traffic culture in the city. It was revealed by Divisional Commissioner Tahir Hussain while presiding over a meeting of District Traffic Management Committee (DTMC).
The members of the committee were assured by the commissioner that all necessary steps were being taken to regulate the flow of traffic in the light of the feedback received from representatives, transporters, traders and the government departments concerned. Addressing the DTMC members, District Coordination Officer Naseem Sadiq reiterated his commitment to make the city roads hassle-free for all the commuters.
The city government was endeavoring to introduce modern traffic system in the city that would solve the problems, relating to the traffic jams, within two months, he said, adding that the problems created by slow-moving traffic would be solved. He added Faisalabad Urban Transport Welfare Society was being organised effectively to provide better traffic facilities to the citizens.
Chief Traffic Officer (CTO) Muhammad Asif Khan said that specified parking arrangements had been made in Kutchery Bazaar, Karkhana Bazaar, Aminpur Bazaar, Chiniot Bazaar, Saleemi Chowk and Satyana Road. The commissioner directed the traffic chief to launch a crackdown against the illegal practice by the owners of private vehicles using green number plates posing as government officials.
The meeting was attended by SP Administration Abdul Qadir Qamar, Road Traffic Authority (RTA) Secretary Mian Mohsin Rasheed, Roads DO Ghulam Hussain Sindhu and community members Sheikh Munawar, Khawaja Shahid Razzaq Sikka, Syed Fahim Mehmood Shah, Mehmood Alam Jatt and Liaqat Randawa who endorsed the decisions taken by the DTMC.
Woman poisoned to death by in-laws: A housewife died in a hospital after being allegedly poisoned by her husband and his family. Reportedly, 26-year-old Nabeela was married to Shabbir, a resident of Ali Housing Colony, about four years ago. The couple had a three-year-old daughter and had a history of domestic quarrels. After complaints of severe stomach complications, Nabeela was taken to the Allied Hospital where she was diagnosed to have suffered from food poisoning that caused her death.
Nabeela’s father alleged that she had been poisoned by her husband, his brother and father. After postmortem, the body was handed over to Nabeela’s father instead of her husband due to the allegations.
TWO ROBBERS INJURED IN ENCOUNTER: A police encounter left two dacoits seriously wounded while their two accomplices escaped during the operation.
Reportedly, People’s Colony police were informed by person that a group of dacoits had established a picket near D-Ground which is a posh area in Faisalabad.
SHO Zafar Iqbal along with a police contingent besieged the gangsters and a gun battle started between the robbers and the police. As a result, two robbers were wounded and caught while their two companions escaped. The wounded, identified as Allah Dittah and Manzoor Nawaz, residents of Okarra district, were taken to the district headquarters hospital.
DUMPED NEWBORN DIES OF COLD: A mother threw her newborn baby on a roadside where he died of cold. Civil Lines police recovered the body of a newborn baby wrapped in a polythene bag from Race Course Ground. The body was later buried by the residents of the vicinity while a case of criminal negligence had been registered against the unidentified mother who took the life of her own child.
