Camp Jail prisoner dies mysteriously

LAHORE – A prisoner detained in the Camp Jail died mysteriously on Tuesday. The doctors at the Jinnah Hospital say that he died of cardiac arrest. Muhammad Fayaz (39), a Shadbagh resident, was sent to the Camp Jail on charges of owing illegal drugs some months ago.
Yesterday, Fayaz fell unconscious and was shifted to the Jinnah Hospital where he was pronounced dead. Fayaz’s relatives were informed by the police and later the body was given to its heirs after the autopsy.
NEPHEW KILLS: A 70-year-old man was shot by his nephew over some enmity in Nawankot police precincts on Tuesday.
The deceased was identified as Muhammad Ayub, a resident of Kasur. Police said that Ayub came to his relative’s house in Manga Mandi some days ago and yesterday when he was heading home, his nephew Waseem along with three others shot him and escaped. Locals informed the police and rushed him to a nearby hospital where he died. Police have shifted the body to the morgue for autopsy and have registered a murder case against Waseem.
GAMBLERS BUSTED: Kot Lakhpat police and Iqbal Town police separately raided on Tuesday at different areas of the city and arrested 11 people involved in gambling on the Cricket World Cup. Police officials raided the areas on a tip, made arrests and seized bet money, mobile phones and laptops. An FIR has also been lodged against the arrested.
