Sialkot DBA demands Raymond’s trial in ATC

SIALKOT – The Sialkot District Bar Association (DBA) has urged the Pakistan government not to hand Raymond Davis over to the US, demanding his trial by an anti-terrorism court (ATC) in Pakistan. At a meeting chaired by DBA President Khalid Ali Chaudhary, the lawyers strongly condemned the Pakistan government’s alleged soft corner for Raymond Davis because of America’s pressure.
They expressed concern over the incident in which Shumaila, wife of Faheem, one of the victims, committed suicide in Faisalabad for her failure to get justice. The Sialkot DBA unanimously passed several condemnation resolutions, urging the Pakistan government not to hand over the accused to America and initiate an early trial of this case in an anti-terrorism court (ATC) in Pakistan.
TMA asked to ensure cleanliness in Pasrur: Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) central leader and MNA Zahid Hamid has expressed concern over the prolonged failure of Pasrur Tehsil Municipal Administration (TMA) officials to solve the problem of choked sewerage system in Pasrur city and asked the officials to ensure early cleanliness of all the sewerage nullahs.
He said the Chief Minister’s Inspection Team (CMIT) would reach Pasrur in a couple of days to check the malpractice of the officials concerned in Pasrur TMA. He said that all the inter-city roads in Pasrur city would be carpeted and constructed by using cement and iron rods instead of asphalt.
He pledged the early shifting of Sabzi Mandi to the outskirts of Pasrur from the city, installation of street lights on all the roads and streets and removal of encroachments from the city. Clerks protest against nonpayment of salaries: Hundreds of clerks and other employees from different government departments took out a rally and staged a peaceful sit-in in the district court in protest against the nonpayment of their monthly salaries for January 2011.
The protesters were carrying banners and placards and chanting slogans against the government for not releasing the funds for their salaries. All Pakistan Clerks Association (APCA) Sialkot President Syed Fida Hussain, Ansar Malik and Ahmed Ghumman jointly led the rally. While talking to journalists, they said more than 6,000 government employees in the district were deprived of their salaries for the month of January 2011 and added that the banks were returning their salary cheques.
ACTION DEMANDED AGAINST HUMAN TRAFFICKERS: The grieved families of the Chawinda/Pasrur-based 11 youths who drowned in deep waters of the Arabian Sea while going to Muscat in a boat five months ago through Gwadar have strongly protested against the human traffickers and demanded a stern legal action against them.
They chanted anti-human trafficking slogans, calling the human traffickers the enemies of humanity who had been killing innocent people on the pretext of sending them abroad illegally.
