LAHORE – Traffic remained clogged at the Canal road near Punjab University campus on Monday as the road from the University was blocked for traffic due to road carpeting. Commuters got irked by the traffic mess as they had to halt at the road for long hours.
A traffic jam was witnessed near Garden Town underpass, University underpass, Barket market, Faisal Town and other adjoining areas. The road was blocked for the regular traffic from the University campus till Shah Di Khoi as the motorists cursed authorities for carpeting the road on a week days. A private bank assistant manger Imran Ullah caught in the traffic jam said that the worst thing was that authorities chose to play with the road on one of the busiest working days.
He further added that the authorities should have some common sense on when they choose to divert road activity. Traffic police Public Relations Officer said that proper divergence was provided and around 30 traffic wardens were placed around the campus to control the traffic load.
He assured that the roads were ready and would be opened late at night on Monday.
