ISLAMABAD – Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani’s son Abdul Qadir Gilani on Monday appeared at the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) Headquarters, where he was summoned to answer questions regarding his alleged involvement in the Haj corruption case.
He was handed over a questionnaire asking him to explain how did he bought a bulletproof black Toyota Prado Land Cruiser, its mode of payment, and the amount of Customs Duty paid for it. He was also asked to produce relevant documents regarding the lawful purchase of the vehicle, to explain whether he had any link with anyone of those involved in the Haj scam and whether he had received any money from his friend Zain Sukhera’s account.
“Price of the bulletproof vehicle imported by Qadir Gilani is Rs 102 million, and the amount of Customs Duty on its purchase is Rs 8.2 million,” said an FIA source. The source said investigators suspect that Qadir Gilani received a huge amount from former DG Haj through his friend Sukhera, and imported the costly vehicle from the UAE last year.
Meanwhile, Director General FIA Waseem Ahmad confirmed that the agency had handed over a five-point questionnaire to Qadir Gilani. Taking to media persons after appearing before FIA investigators, Qadir denied his involvement in the Haj scam.
