BHU staff booked for stealing medical equipment

GUJRANWALA – Gujranwala District Coordination Officer Barrister Nabil Ahmad Awan got a corruption case registered against Adil Garh Basic Health Unit (BHU) In-charge Dr Muhammad Ashraf and Dispenser Muhammad Ansar for stealing trees, medicines, oxygen cylinders and medical equipment from the unit.
The action was initiated after a surprise visit of Health Sector Reforms Programme Project Director Farasat Iqbal to the BHU Adil Garh where he found embezzlement and an illegal medical store at Dr Muhammad Ashraf’s own hospital. After receiving a report by the visiting officer, the DCO ordered registration of a criminal case against the doctor and dispenser and closure of the illegal medical store at the doctor’s private hospital.
The DCO has intended to take stern action against such negligence and corruption and warned that all-out efforts will be made to save the funds allocated by the government to facilitate the poor masses, especially in rural areas.
YOUTH DIES IN ROAD ACCIDENT: An unknown motorcyclist died after being hit by a donkey cart near Rajkot Gondlanwala Road in the jurisdiction of Dhullay Police Station. Reportedly, a young man was going somewhere on his motorcycle which got out of control owing to over-speeding and collided with a donkey cart.
The accident caused severe injuries to the youth who was taken to the hospital, but could not survive.
