LAHORE – Adviser to prime minister and Evacuee Trust Property Board (EPTB) Chairman Syed Asif Hashmi resumed the charge of his seat on Monday after receiving a green signal from Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) Co-chairman President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Yousaf Raza Gilani.
The PPP central leader, after the assurance given by President Zardari and PM Gilani to remove his reservations, decided to resume his lucrative post and expressed his gratitude to President and PM for providing him with an opportunity to serve people again. He was talking to staff and the media in his office. He said he might forgive those who had leveled baseless allegations against him but not those who usurped rights of the poor and widows.
He said he had requested the PM to regularise contract employees and the respective approval will be granted soon. “I have increased board’s revenue by Rs 1.12 billion within a year and many development programmes have started during my chairmanship,” he added.
Earlier, ETPB employees and other officials welcomed him when he reached the office. Public Relations Officer Amir Hashmi released many birds as a good will gesture while slogans in favour of Asif Hashmi, Benazir Bhutto and Prime Minister Gilani were raised by the supporters.
