LAHORE – The Inaugural Ceremony of the Ambassadors’ Forum at LUMS was held on Monday. The purpose of this forum is to engage the diplomatic community in an open dialogue on issues of national and international importance.
Besides serving as a platform to invite foreign ambassadors and other international dignitaries, the forum will provide an opportunity to LUMS community to learn and discuss their perspectives about bilateral relationships and matters of geo-strategic interest.
Former Ambassador and 20th Foreign Secretary of Pakistan (1990-1994) Shaharyar Khan and Ambassador S. Azmat Hassan (Retd) will serve as co-chairs of the Forum. LUMS Vice Chancellor Dr. Ahmad Jan Durrani welcomed the guests to the inaugural and briefed about the Ambassadors’ Forum at LUMS.
Following this, Senior Counselor Institute for the Study of Diplomacy at Georgetown University Ambassador Howard B. Schaffer and former U.S. Diplomat Teresita Schaffer discussed and shared their views on the roller coaster relationship between US and Pakistan while giving an over view of South Asian affairs. The event was followed by a Question and Answer session.
