MUMBAI – The High Court in Mumbai will decide today (Monday) the fate of Mohammed Ajmal alias Amir Kasab, the alleged terrorist of Pakistani origin who was sentenced to death by a special court for his role in the terror attacks on the financial capital.
The High Court is likely to vindicate the death sentence given to Kasab by the special Indian court last May, sources said.
According to Indian law, death sentence given by a lower court has to be confirmed by the High Court. The court will also hear the government of the western state of Maharashtra’s petition challenging acquittal of two persons, Faheem Ansari and Sabauddin Ahmed, who were freed by the special court on grounds of “doubtful evidence”, they said.
