Sir Ganga Ram Hospital’s dermatology unit inaugurated

LAHORE – The newly-constructed dermatology in-door unit at the Sir Ganga Ram Hospital was inaugurated on Saturday by the hospital’s Board of Management Chairman Justice (r) Mehboob Ahmed. The unit has been completed by financial assistance of various philanthropists at cost of more than Rs 5 million.
The dermatology unit has 21 beds capacity including 8 male, 11 female and 2 in ICU wards. Principal Dr Rakhshanda, MS Dr Ijaz Sheikh and other faculty members attended the inaugural ceremony. Talking to journalists, Ijaz said that at present more than 250 patients are visiting the dermatology OPD daily and the unit is one of the busiest in public-sector hospitals.
He said that the unit is offering specialised services including phototherapy, CRYO and CAUTREY and surgical skin procedures. The MS said that diagnostic facilities such as skin biopsy and fungal scraping are also being provided free of cost. Ijaz told journalists that this unit is recognised for all levels of specialisation including MCPS and FCPS. At present 18 doctors are getting training for specialisation in various levels.
In future, these services would be further expanded for patients care and doctors training by adding advanced medical equipments such as Lasers and Narrow band UVB chambers, he concluded.
