KARACHI – A PPP office-bearer was killed and a woman injured when two unidentified men opened fire at their car near Khuda Ki Basti in Surjani Town on Saturday. Surjani police said that the incident took place in Sector 36 of Khuda Ki Basti near the Lyari Expressway.
Forty-eight-year-old Naimatullah alias Mohan Bengali was in his car bearing registration No APX-015 along with a woman identified as 25-year-old Laiba when two unidentified men on a motorcycle opened fire at their vehicle and escaped. Naimatullah suffered two bullet wounds in his head and died on the spot and Laiba was hit by two bullets in her abdomen.
The police took the deceased and the injured to the Abbasi Shaheed Hospital. SHO Mussadiq Rafiq said that the victim was the vice president of PS-97, Surjani Town and ran a cattle farm and an estate agency in the area. The SHO said that the victim had a land dispute with someone, who might be involved in the murder. The police officer further said that the injured woman is in a serious condition.
The victim was a resident of Sector 50-F, Surjani Town. The police had not filed a case by the time this report was filed. TWO BODIES FOUND: Police have found the bodies of two young men in a nullah situated in Jahangirabad within the limits of the Rizvia police station. The bodies were shifted to the Abbasi Shaheed Hospital for an autopsy and the identity of the two men could not be ascertained till the time this report was filed.
SHO Ali Raza said the two men, who appear to be in their 20s, were probably kidnapped and murdered; and their bodies were later dumped in the nullah. The police have registered a dual murder case against unidentified people on behalf of the State and started investigation.
