Petition filed in LHC seeking Davis’ shifting to Lahore Fort

LAHORE – A petition was filed in the Lahore High Court (LHC) seeking shifting of US national Raymond Davis to the Lahore Fort and an ISI inquiry into the case. Rana Ilmddin filed the petition submitting that Davis was on a special mission in Pakistan, which could be harmful for the country’s solidarity.
He said that the accused was spending his days of detention as a guest, as his ‘residence’ at the Kot Lakhpat Jail consists of two barrack and 18 rooms. The petitioner alleged that Davis was provided facilities of cellular phones, TV and all other necessities, as if he was a guest of Pakistan. Ilmddin said that as the jail is far away from the city it could help the American to flee.
The petitioner alleged that the US wanted Davis’ early release fearing that he would reveal secrets of Washington’s secret missions in Pakistan and information regarding drone attacks. He submitted that after his arrest, drone attacks were stopped, as if he was providing assistance in this regard to US forces. Ilmddin alleged that the US could even launch an operation for Davis’ release.
The petitioner said that there were several instances when the US took action against sovereignty of other countries. He said that US forces arrested Panama’s army chief on January 3, 1990 for challenging its authority and planned former PM Liaqat Ali Khan’s assassination. The petitioner alleged that the US was behind former PM Zulfikar Ali Bhutto’s hanging for making Pakistan a nuclear state.
He alleged that documents recovered from Davis proved that he was a mastermind of terrorists, trained shooter and this expertise is not necessary for an ambassador. Ilmddin said that for its own benefit, the US could not only try to forcefully get him released but also kill him. He said that no stone should be left unturned for Davis’ protection, which is impossible at the Kot Lakhpat Jail.
The petitioner alleged that for his protection, it was necessary to hand over Davis to the ISI so that no one could kidnap him.
