ISLAMABAD – Establishment Secretary Abdul Rauf Chaudhry on Saturday confirmed that a notification regarding the termination of contract of FIA DG Waseem Ahmed had not been issued. “We have not issued any such notification for the termination of Ahmed’s reemployment after retirement, but the Establishment Division has issued notifications of termination of contracts of 10 other reemployed government officials,” he added.
Ahmed said he was still holding his office and his contract had not been terminated by the prime minister. The Establishment secretary had submitted a list of 15 government officials to the Supreme Court last month who had been rehired by the government on contract after reaching superannuation. The secretary had told the court a two-member committee consisting of Establishment and Cabinet Division secretaries had recommended the prime minister to terminate the services of these officers.
The Supreme Court expressed its annoyance on February 15 when the establishment secretary informed the apex court that the prime minister had sent the matter pertaining to the termination of contract of 15 reemployed retired government officials to the Law Ministry for legal opinion.
A source in the Establishment Division told Pakistan Today that the government had had been postponed the termination of contract of FIA DG Waseem Ahmed (BPS-21), National School of Public Policy Director Staff Brig (r) Shahid Akram Kardar (BPS-20), Port Qasim Authority Deputy Secretary Muhammad Zamir Farooqi (BPS-18), Larkana DIG Din Muhammad Baloch (BPS-20) and DIG (Training) Nadir Hussain Khoso (BPS-20).
Shabbir Anwar, press secretary to the PM, said he was unaware of the names of those employees whose reemployment had been terminated.
