‘Collective efforts needed to solve FATA problems’

PESHAWAR – Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) Governor Barrister Masood Kausar has underlined the need for collective efforts to resolve the basic problems concerning Federally Administered Tribal Areas (FATA) and vowed that elected representatives from FATA would be taken on board in every effort in this regard.
Talking to FATA parliamentarians in an informal meeting at the Governor’s House here on Saturday, the governor said that restoration and maintenance of peace in FATA was the foremost prerequisite for the socio-economic development of FATA. He added that efforts for peace and progress both should go side by side as the situation in most of the areas had improved.
He further said that he believed in direct interaction and contacts with the people and would like to meet the tribesmen to ascertain their grievances, problems and socio-economic needs. The negative perceptions about FATA had to be removed, he said adding that he had already directed FATA line departments that the development process in FATA must be visible with judicious utilisation of development funds.
He hoped that peace in FATA would be completely restored to pave the way for smooth and accelerated development process so that the tribal people, who had suffered a lot, had to take a sigh of relief and their problems and difficulties were properly addressed. The FATA senators and members national assembly (MNAs) apprised the governor of various issues and problems of the tribesmen and hoped that they would get due attention of the government.
The delegation included SAFRON Minister Shaukatullah Khan and MNAs Haji Munir Orakzai, Muhammad Kamran Khan, Akhunzada Chatan, Hamidullah Jan Afridi, Malik Bilal Rahman, Jawad Hussain, Maulana Abdul Malik, Zafar Beg Bhittani and senators Rashid Ahmad Khan, Abdul Raziq, Hafiz Rashid Ahmad, Idrees Khan Safi, Maulana Abdul Rashid and Haji Khan Afridi. FATA Additional Chief Secretary Fazal Karim Khattak and Governor’s Secretary Sikandar Qayum were also present on the occasion.
