ISLAMABAD – Supreme Court Bar Association (SCBA) President Asma Jahangir on Saturday welcomed the decision of the Judicial Commission of Pakistan (JCP) to defer the appointment of two ad hoc judges in the apex court.
Talking to reporters at the Supreme Court building, she thanked the JCP for giving weight to the voice of bar associations and lawyers that did not approve the ad hoc appointments. She praised the fact that despite being in majority in the JCP, the judges did not pass a decision on their own on the issue.
“The decision shows that we are heading towards maturity,” she added. Asma said the JCP decision would increase lawyers’ trust in the judiciary.
