ISLAMABAD – Terming Pakistan as land of opportunities, speakers at a conference said that Pakistan was different from what is being portrayed by media, which created misperceptions about the country. “Engagement with local stakeholders and officials is the key to success for any investments in the country, the speakers said at a conference titled “Doing business in Pakistan” held in London.
According to press statement issued by the Board of Investment (BoI) here on Friday, the British High Commissioner to Pakistan Adam Thomson told the conference that during his stay in Pakistan he had seen a Pakistan that was different from the media portrayal and that Pakistan was a victim of misperceptions. The event was jointly organised by the UK department of Trade and Investment and the Pakistan High Commission, London, the press statement added.
The event was co-chaired by British Minister for Trade and Investment Lord Stephen Green and BoI Chairman Saleem H Mandviwalla, to chart out plans for attracting more British businesses in Pakistan. Over 80 businesses representatives from the UK and Pakistan attended the conference, including British High Commissioner to Pakistan Adam Thomson and Pakistan’s High Commissioner to the UK Wajid Shamsul Hasan.
