LAHORE – Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif must implement the 19-point agenda of PPP in compliance with his commitments with their coalition partner, Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) parliamentary leader Raja Riaz Ahmad said talking to journalists at his office on Friday.
Raja Riaz stressed that the committee’s earlier constitution must be implemented as was suggested. He continued to urge Shahbaz Sharif to form a committee to implement as per his assurance to him during a meeting at 90-Shahrah last week. When asked about PML-N Provincial Law Minister Rana Sanaullah’s dismissal of the 19- point agenda, Raja Riaz stressed that he should reconsider his position saying, “Those not giving importance to the agenda should reconsider their beliefs.”
Riaz commented on the rumors of separation of PML-N led government with its coalition partner PPP in Punjab in upcoming week saying that “we are prepared for it and we will go to Data Darbar to offer a “prayer of thanks’.” He said that he is supporting Punjab government for democracy’s sake but PPP will be pleased if it decides to part ways.
While commenting on the issue of Speaker Punjab Assembly’s allotment of seats separate from their basic party (PML-Q) to the Unification Bloc, Riaz said, “after this act from PML-N backed Speaker, Punjab’s CM is again encouraging ‘Chhanga Manga Politics’.” He termed allocation of a separate bench to the unification Bloc, unconstitutional. Raja Riaz added that PML N has buried democracy.
PPP could call for a ‘vote of confidence’ from the House against CM if he took any action against PPP and he would lose majority in Punjab Assembly, Riaz said. Senior Minister Punjab demanded CM to ask PML-N based Speaker Punjab Assembly Rana Iqbal Ahmad Khan to declare his decision of allotment of separate seats to the Unification Group as unconstitutional and illegal.
Earlier, Rana Sanaullah refused to propose two PML-N members to discuss PPP’s 19-point agenda. The agenda that relates governance in the province was termed ‘useless and a waste’ by Rana Sanaullah who said that the agenda was a retaliation to PML-N’s 10-point agenda.
