LAHORE – Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) chief Nawaz Sharif and Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif apparently have a different stance on their future political strategy, with the PML-N chief aspiring to continue politics of reconciliation in the larger national interest and Shahbaz proposing the exact opposite.
In a meeting with a delegation of the Pakistan Business Council on Friday, Shahbaz exploded unprovoked when Nawaz talked about continuing politics of reconciliation. According to sources, Shahbaz said despite the fact the PML-N fostered politics of reconciliation, it could never be reciprocated. The sources said it was the first time the Punjab chief minister showed such emotions that too unprovoked, adding that Khawaja Asif then intervened into the matter. The PML-N chief and PBC delegation comprising Abdul Razzaq Daud, Ali Habib, Mian Mansha and Munir Kamal reviewed the prevailing economic situation and discussed different options for its improvement. PML-N leaders Ishaq Dar, Khawaja Asif, Pervaiz Rashid were also present during the meeting.
Nawaz told the delegation that they needed political stability, elimination of corruption and improvement in law and order with the objective of improving the economy of Pakistan. He said the protection of the needs of the business class would help invite investment in the country and bring down prices of essential commodities in the country.
