LAHORE – Additional District and Session Judge on Friday adjourned hearing of an application filed by Moonis Elahi challenging the impugned orders passed by judicial magistrate Irfan Basra regarding proclamation of the arrest of the absconder accused applicant till February 19.
Earlier, FIA authorities sought time to submit the reply of said application stating that the relevant record is in FIA’s Islamabad office. The application filed by Moonis Elahi through his counsel Muhammad Amir submits that FIA obtained proclamation orders for the arrest of applicant who was abroad at that time due to his personal activities.
The application maintains that the FIA misled the court during the hearing to obtain orders against Moonis Elahi. It stated that Moonis shall return to Pakistan in a few days. In his application Moonis Elahi prayed to the court to declare the orders passed by judicial magistrate to be set aside.
Moonis Elahi is one of the key accused in National Insurance Corporation (NICL) scam and his arrest warrant has been issued by the court due to his non-appearance before FIA investigation team.
