ISLAMABAD – Former federal minister for Religious Affairs Hamid Saeed Kazmi on Friday failed to convince the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) about the ownership of his property in Rahim Yar Khan. According to a source in the FIA, Kazmi told a team that some one had gifted him the said property.
When Kazmi was asked why he did not transfer the property in the name of seminary he had been running for years, he could not provide a satisfactory reply. However, he maintained that foreign currency remitted in his account in a Pakistani bank was sent by one of his brothers settled in the UK.
Kazmi would again appear before the FIA team Monday to further clarify his position on the allegations of corruption in hajj affairs, the source said. FIA Director Hussain Asghar is heading the team investigating mismanagement in Haj affairs after Additional Director General (ADG) Syed Javed Bukhari went abroad after getting a long leave from the administration.
