FIA DG dodges axe, PM sends 8 others packing

ISLAMABAD – Acting upon the orders of the Supreme Court, Prime Minister Yousaf Raza Gilani sacked eight high-ranking contractual government officials. However, the notification for sacking Federal Investigation Agency Director General Wasim Ahmed, also a contractual officer, was not issued until the filing of this report.
The court had recently ordered the government to review the appointments made in government departments on contractual basis. Establishment Division Secretary Abdur Rauf Chaudhry confirmed to Pakistan Today that some notifications to the effect were issued on Friday, however he declined to respond to a question pertaining to the termination of the DG FIA.
Those who have been axed included officers of police, railways and Intelligence Bureau. Those who have been shown the door include Sindh Intelligence Bureau (IB) Joint Director General Tariq Jamil, Sindh Inspector General of Police Salahuddin Babar Khatak, Deputy Director of the Intelligence Bureau (IB) Amir Shahzad, DIG Maj (r) Khurram Gulzar, DIG Nadir Hussain Khoso, DDIB Asghar Mehmood, DIG Larkana Din Mohammad Baloch and DIG Gilgit Farman Ali.
