LAHORE – Punjab Assembly opposition leader Chaudhary Zaheer-ud-Din said his party will challenge the decision regarding the granting of separate status to the members of the forward bloc in the court.
Addressing a press conference at the Punjab Assembly’s cafeteria on Thursday, he said consultation among his party members was in progress and soon his party will challenge Punjab Assembly speaker’s decision, terming it as ‘crossing the limits’. Condemning PML-N leadership, he said the PML-N had made the Punjab as the ‘stock exchange of turncoats’.
He said the PA speaker crossed his limits while granting separate status to the members of the forward bloc. He said the decision will prove to be a ‘dark decision’. He said the PA speaker was supposed to act like a custodian of the house but he could not bear the government’s pressure.
Zaheer also alleged that it was not the first time; PML-N was habitual in promoting the culture of ‘turncoats’. He said PML-Q will expose the ‘real face’ of PML-N leaders, who allegedly claimed for being the ‘champions of democracy’.
Criticising Punjab government’s performance, he said the soaring crime graph exposed the alleged claims of good governance. He believes that PML-N’s government ‘failed’ to provide relief to the people. He said the opposition members will not only stage demonstrations in front of the PA, during the next session, but will also take the matter to the court.
He said PML-Q respected the mandate under the Charter of Democracy (CoD) and expected the same, but the PML-N had ‘crossed all limits of morality’. He said PML-Q central leadership named him as the parliamentary leader and leader of the opposition as well, which the Punjab Assembly speaker accepted, but now, he said, “I badly failed to understand under what circumstances the speaker awarded separate status to the same group that had opposed him.”
Zaheer said he had pointed out fake signatures of his own party members, submitted by the members of the forward bloc, and had presented before the speaker and the decision in this regard was still pending. He said the speaker should play his positive role as the custodian of the house instead of a representative of any political group.
